Is my dog ok, he's making gagging sounds like he's gonna throw up an Is eating grass?

He sounded like he was about to throw up and ran to the door so I opened it and let him out. He's now eating grass. Is this ok? Should I stop him? We don't put anything on our lawn so there isn't anything toxic.
