Isnt playing hard to get the best thing to do in a relationship?

I'm 19 my bf is 22. I've always played hard to get. I mean i dont neglect him or anything i just dont call or text first dont say yes right away for everything and dont open up that easy. I love him and want him mor ethan anything but ecause of my playing hard to get he thinks i'm probably too good for him. He hasn't gotten sick of it, in fact he wants me more. If only he knew how little i think of myself and how much i actually need him every second, he'd probably want to run away. He tells me about these girls texting and calling him and the time and how he doesn't like it one bit. I know most guys dont like clingy girls. Thats all im trying not to be. I give him a lot of space. I only do this so i wont get hurt in the end if things dont work out, and i can be usd to not texting or callin or meeting him. Honestly, he's drop dead gorgeous and totally outa my league and most of the time its my playing hard to get that keeps him interested. I mena of course, we love each otehr and are emotionally attached and in deep. So is this a stupid thing to do? I dont hesitate to reciprocate when he spills his feelings for me i just dont initiate it.
