Is my car battery dying twice in one month a bad thing for my car?

it was raining while i was driving and when i had parked it was sunny so i forgot twice to turn off my lights, the first time was about a month ago and i got it jumped and started and its been fine. today my car was left with its lights on for about two hours and its ALMOST dead. last time even my remote key wouldn't work but this time i was able to have the car register that there was a key in the ignition but when i tried to start it it almost sounded like a small lawn mower and it didn't sound right, i havent tried to jump it yet but is there anything i should be worried about when i do? i know it obviously isn't a good thing that this happend but should i be afraid to drive home? (i have a two hour drive home tonight)
