Started a lawn service, have questions, help?

Ok me and friend started a lawn service, nothing big just mowing trimming gutters yardwork, roots, etc. We passed out flyers yesturday, and guess what i wake up this morning, had a call, some 88 year old man asked us to come by and give a estimate, for a big job, he said there was a lot of work to do. I told him me and my partner can run down in a hour to check it out and give him an estimate. Btw keep in mind we r just graduated from highschool. So i call my friend, ok we got our first gig, he goes "i cant im down in philly, flooring with my dad" so im like in my head ................ cant go to that guys house with out my partner, we need to set a price together based on the job. So i call the man back, ask him if we could reschedule for maybe tonight or in the morning. He didnt let me finish, and goes No, no, you can just forget it. I was like wow first client, and its gone like that. I kinda feel down from it.
